WALBRO ENGINE MANAGEMENT PRODUCES 300
MILLIONTH CARBURETOR
AS IT REACHES 55th ANNIVERSARY
April 28, 2005
TUCSON,
Arizona – Walbro Engine Management has reached a
major manufacturing milestone with the production of its
300,000,000th carburetor.
“The
timing of this milestone is particularly significant for
us,” said Andrew V. Masterman, President, Walbro Engine
Management. “Walbro celebrates its 55th anniversary in
2005, so surpassing the 300 million carburetor
production mark allows us to turn 55 on a very positive
note."
As Walbro
begins its anniversary year, it celebrates its growth
from a small, rural Michigan company to the world's
largest manufacturer of carburetors for outdoor power
equipment, marine, recreational and two-wheel
applications. Walbro also is a major manufacturer of
ignition systems, fuel injection and air/fuel management
components for those markets.
Walbro
was founded in 1950 in Fenton, Michigan, as a company
dedicated to manufacturing carburetors for the small
engine industry. In 1954 the company moved to Cass
City, Michigan. Since then, Walbro has greatly
broadened its product line and has grown into a global
organization with facilities in the United States,
Mexico, Italy, Japan, Thailand and China. Walbro's
headquarters is now located in Tucson, Arizona.
Walbro
Engine Management was acquired by London, England -
based TI Automotive in June of 1999, bringing greater
resources as well as additional products and technical
capabilities to the Walbro organization.
