WALBRO ENGINE MANAGEMENT'S MEXICAN FACILITY
EARNS ISO 9002 CERTIFICATION
May 4, 2001
TUCSON, AZ Walbro Engine Management's carburetor and
ignition system manufacturing facility in Nogales, Sonora, Mexico, has
been awarded ISO 9002 certification.
This certification was the culmination of nearly five years of effort by
the Nogales team, according to Andrew Masterman, President, Walbro
Engine Management. With a facility of the size and complexity of Walbro
Engine Management's Nogales plant, the task required a great deal of
teamwork and discipline. We are proud of the efforts of the Nogales Team
in earning this important certification.
ISO 9002 is a well-recognized, comprehensive, world-wide quality
standard, notes Everardo Mercado, Senior Quality Manager, Walbro de
Mexico. With ISO 9002 certification, customers are assured that Walbro
can efficiently satisfy their requirements with quality products.
ISO 9002 covers virtually all aspects of a company's performance, from
the time an order is taken, through manufacturing and into the delivery
phase, Mercado said. Each employee's responsibilities are defined, and
all jobs must have detailed work instructions, from management to the
shop floor. Purchasing, training, service and corrective actions are
included and documented. All incoming materials are also documented and
products can be traced throughout the production sequence."
