Precision Products celebrates 10th Anniversary
May 26, 2005
TUCSON, AZ Tucson Precision Products (TPP) celebrated
10 years of operation with ceremonies at its South Renaissance Drive
facility in Tucson on May 2. TPP manufactures precision die castings used in
a variety of industries.
TPP was established in 1995 as a partnership of Walbro Engine Management, a
major manufacturer of products for small engine applications, and Iwaki
Diecast Company, a leading Japanese die caster. Since then, TPP has expanded
beyond its initial role as a supplier of carburetor body die castings and
now supplies flywheels for small engine applications as well as precision
castings to many customers in the automotive, electronics and
telecommunications industries.
TPP started operations with four die cast machines and 15 employees.
Currently the company has 12 die cast machines and 109 employees.
"Since its establishment, Tucson Precision Products has demonstrated
significant growth and has evolved into a valued supplier to Walbro and to
other customers in many industries,” said Andrew V. Masterman, President,
Walbro Engine Management. “TPP's use of advanced manufacturing processes has
played a key role in that growth."
TPP's ISO-9001:2000-certified facility features a high degree of automation.
Molten metal is transported from the melting furnace to holding furnaces
with an automated trolley system, providing consistent metal delivery and
enhancing safety. Automated ladling is used to fill computer-controlled die
casting machines, ensuring process consistency and repeatability. Robots
remove castings from the die casting machines and insert them directly into
dies for immediate trimming.
Tucson Precision Products offers a full range of secondary surface finishing
and machining operations, allowing completed castings to be delivered to
customers for insertion in the assembly process on a just-in-time basis.
Walbro Engine Management, a unit of TI Automotive, is the world's largest
manufacturer of carburetors and a major manufacturer of ignition systems,
fuel injection and air/fuel management components, and fuel storage and
delivery components for engines targeted at outdoor power equipment, marine,
recreational and two-wheel applications. Walbro Engine Management has
facilities in the United States, Mexico, Italy, Japan, Thailand and China.
