MANAGEMENT ACQUIRES FULL OWNERSHIP OF WALBRO TDD, RENAMES IT WALBRO
ITALY
Walbro Engine
Management has acquired full ownership of Walbro TDD, a designer and
manufacturer of electronic control units based in Bologna, Italy. Walbro
TDDs operations will be renamed Walbro Italy.
"This acquisition gives Walbro Engine Management control of its destiny
in the area of electronic control units," Andrew V. Masterman,
President, Walbro Engine Management, said in announcing the acquisition.
"We expect electronic control units to play an increasingly important
role as electronic fuel injection becomes common in a greater variety of
engine applications. Walbro Italy's expertise in this area will allow us
to better serve our customers, many of whom are looking to Walbro for
complete systems knowledge in engine management technology."
Walbro TDD was established in 1997. The operation supplies electronic
control units for a variety of high performance applications including
offshore racing boats, track and rally cars, and motorcycles.
Walbro Italy also provides sales and engineering support for Walbro's
lawn and garden and two-wheeled vehicle customers in Europe.
Walbro Engine Management, a unit of TI Automotive, is the world's
largest manufacturer of small engine carburetors for hand-held power
equipment and a major manufacturer of small engine ignition systems,
fuel injection components and other products for outdoor power
equipment, marine and recreational products. Walbro Engine Management
